I'm glad I checked here...I thought things might' have been a bit further along, and have been trying to get this going for the past few days with my 2018 Mac Mini. As above, I got through the install until it was showing 29 minutes left, then would get pop up "an error occurred preparing the software update" and couldn't proceed past that point. I thought it was something I was doing wrong.
