Permission denied when trying to install Tahoe on MacBookPro15,2
needs-version-info
Model: MacBookPro15,2 (spoofed as 16,2)
Issue: Around at 18 minutes remaining it tells tells "Permission Denied" with Read only file system in logs.
I also tried booting from a working install (from my Hackintosh) and it did not work. I also tried installing on an external HDD, it copied the files but after reboot, it threw me an error that the installation could not be finished.

I found the bug that sends to Apple Software Update that this Mac is not a T2 one
@albert-mueller ·
Fixed in source code, can you try?
@hkr3d2 ·
Gotta try soon

I updated build.py to fix this bug. You can try again by downloading the code from source.

Still nothing. I am going to try With another fork for now.

The corecrypto kernel panic is fixed in prealpha rc for alpha 15, you can try it now
@albert-mueller ·
But the issue with the installation remains due to weird APFS behavior as seen here: #69

tried the newest release, still the same issue

I still have this issue as well. I have a MacBook Air 8,2. I have tried this with sequoia and Tahoe. The installer boots but disk utility didn’t work properly and it says permission denied at 18,2. Any updates?

Currently working with @TheRaddish1313 for fixing this among other issues.

I had an idea. I have an MBA 2019. When booting with the EFI from this OCLP build I got a successful boot. It’s just the installation that fails. So could I use a supported Mac I have to install Tahoe to an external drive then use the EFI from OCLP to boot on my t2 Mac? This would work right? I could figure out how to clone the external drive back to internal later.

It does boot into macOS 26?
@BallBoy123
@BallBoy123 · · bearbeitet
So it booted into my last supported OS which was Sonoma with the EFI from OCLP. I think that it would work for Sequoia or Tahoe as well and that it’s just failing during the installation.

When I tried to boot Tahoe from external SSD on my Mac mini 2018, despite Sequoia successfully booting via OpenCore, Tahoe is panicking with Needs authenticator (81) as seen here: #130 , can you help with researching and fixing this panic?
@BallBoy123
@BallBoy123 ·
I can definitely try but I don't have that much knowledge to debug. I'm just someone who really wants this to work. You're saying you did get Sequoia to work though on your unsupported T2. My goal for this was Sequoia.
@albert-mueller · · bearbeitet
My Mac mini 2018 supports Sequoia and is successfully booting Sequoia via OpenCore.
@BallBoy123 ·
Oh ok. Unfortunately my MBA 2019 only supports Sonoma. I might run into the same issue when trying to boot Sequoia or Tahoe via external drive as I couldn't get the installation on the internal drive to work

Did you try spoofing the model to a MacBookPro16,4? since that was part of the guide for SpoofVMM and one of the successful methods? @m0rtiis1 @albert-mueller @hkr3d2
@m0rtiis1 ·
@zkennedy137
no I did not I will try it now but when spoofing to MacBookPro16,4 should I use custom serial number spoofing & custom board serial number & generate board serial number or should I use SMBIOS spoof model to MacBookPro16,4 only?
@m0rtiis1 ·
@zkennedy137 yes I tried it it loads text & at some point it shuts Mac & don't reach the installation screen
@hkr3d2 ·
I did try that, but still couldn't mount the disk

Hi @hkr3d2, thanks for the report! To look into this we need to know exactly which versions you're running. Please edit your issue or reply below with:
26.6.1 (25G76)). You can find it under → About This Mac, or by runningsw_versin Terminal.4.0.0.19004.5), shown in the app's main window. If you built from source, the commit hash works too."Latest" or "new" isn't enough, since new builds come out often. This comment will go away once the versions are added.
