Thanks for uploading it. I have the same MacBook and the same problem, but it was too late for the log files because I had already deleted everything.

Is this log from the first or second stage?

I’m not sure it’s a technical term but. So I consider stage 1 to be the part when you boot into the installer and select your disk wait for the blue bar etc. Then it reboots and it goes to the apple logo with the eta time underneath and then it fails at least on my MacBookAir8,1

Anyways ok so very first part of the installer is where you are having issues right? I’ll look at the log but I’m a tad less familiar with that portion given my main focus has been stage 2

@friendlycatt The first stage looks something like this. image

And the Second stage looks like this image

Hi @friendlycatt and @42Colin-jpg,

Looking at the log, your Mac is offline (The Internet connection appears to be offline). On T2 Macs, the installer requires an active internet connection to download the mandatory BridgeOS firmware update, otherwise it fatally aborts at the 11-minute mark.

Since legacy Wi-Fi drivers were removed in Tahoe, your Wi-Fi won't work in the installer.
To fix this: Provide a wired internet connection during installation. You can use a USB-to-Ethernet adapter or connect your iPhone via USB and enable Personal Hotspot (USB Tethering) before starting the installer.

Try this and let me know if it works!

Even if I manage to get around the Software update error by installing macOS 26 on an external SSD using my 2020 4 thunderbolt 3 ports MacBook Pro, now this appears and stalls:

On my 2018 Mac mini, when I try to run macOS 26 on my external SSD by installing from my 2020 4 thunderbolt 3 ports MacBook Pro to bypass the Software update error, this occurs:

On my Tahoe install WiFi and Ethernet are disconnected.

ok so looks like a usb map hang and since your drive is over usb you will need them mapped for it to work. Now that could potentially work If you add usbinjectall.kext

I just tried this and doesn't help by much other than getting stuck elsewhere:

It gets stuck at find_valid_checkpoint .

It's highly likely that a bridgeOS spoof is needed to get past this message and get macOS 26 running on unsupported T2 Macs, @zkennedy137 ?

I agree that’s why I started the other thread :)
